If your bathroom is small and you don’t want to start and end the day feeling like you’re in a shoebox. then maximising the space of your small bathroom is crucial.
To create the perfect space for you, first you need to decide where your priorities are.
What do you want the most?
- A bigger shower?
- A bigger vanity?
- More walking room?
- More storage?
Sometimes, in a small bathroom, you can’t have it all. That’s why you need to prioritise.
Here are 3 little-known ways to maximise the space of your small bathroom:
1 – Install an In-wall toilet cistern.
Traditionally, a toilet will project 650-700mm from the back of the wall. The cistern makes up around 100-150mm of this projection. If we place the cistern inside the wall, we free up 100-150mm of additional space.
Extra cost, around $800-$1200 extra. Can’t be installed into single brick walls.
2. Install a Wall-mounted basin mixer.
In most cases taps or mixers are mounted on the basin or bench top. This takes up room. If we install the mixer or tap on the wall, not only is it easier to clean, but we can shorten the depth of the bench top by as much as 100mm.
3- Install a wall-hung vanity.
Getting the vanity off the floor will give the illusion of a more spacious room because you can see more of the floor.
You do however loose some storage space over a floor-mounted vanity.
The key with a wall-hung vanity is to make sure you have enough space underneath and on the sides so you can clean around it. We always leave at least 300mm from the ground and 70-80mm either side so you can get your hands in.
