Doug and Sheryl are a lovely couple that live in Samson. After many years of living in the home they decided it was time for a lifestyle upgrade and to treat themselves to a new bathroom.
We were just one of the quotes they had recieved. They decided to go with another renovator because he was cheaper and could start in a week.
He seemed like a good guy and trustworthy.
At the end of nightmare experience and shocking bathroom that actually smelt like a sewer, they gave me a call to help out.
I was only too happy to help. I only asked if they could share their experience with everyone else so we can try put an end to this kind of thing happening to anyone else.
This is what they had to say:
Many thanks for your assistance in rectifying a bad venture in renovating our en-suite.
The original contractor completed the job and all like very nice. The job was to be completed in 7 days – it took approx 20 working days. Balance owing on the job to be paid in cash on the day of completion.
After a couple of days the shower area had water accumulating at one end, not draining to the shower waste and a bad sewerage smell became evident – very evident. Short story cut short, many unsuccessful attempts to get them back, I had enough and I called my plumber to assist.
His assistant did a few quick checks revealing the vanity unit was not connected in accordance with standards and needed to be fixed and may be the cause of the smell.
The smell still prevalent, again a call to the plumber. Returning, and a closer look revealed the shower waste plumbing did not match up to the main floor waste but was unsure if that was the problem. It meant the tiles needed to be removed and the concrete floor broken up to inspect.
At this point, I decided it was time to get the en-suite fixed up to the design we wanted in the first place. A call to “Dream Bathrooms” and you arrived.
The shower waste had to be redone and the big bonus revealed the toilet unit was not fitted correctly and not sealed. The reason for the smell each time the toilet was flushed.
The tradespersons you used were very obliging and helpful. We now have a beautiful en-suite. One we wanted in the beginning.
What did we learn – ensure the tradespersons are qualified and what you want is written down with a design and signed by both parties.
Dream Bathrooms – thank you so much.
